What I do
2/23/2026
I am a Broadcast Engineer and Technical Director. That means that as an engineer, I make sure that the production runs smoothly from a technical perspective. When I'm a Technical Director, that means that I am the one pressing the buttons making the show go!
I do shows for all of the major networks! I've been on ESPN, FOX, FS1, USA, Regional Networks, and local TV in Chicago and South Bend.
As an engineer, I know the ins and outs of the truck (yes, including what all of those buttons do!) and the equipment inside of it. Production trucks go through lots of bumps on the road, so there's always a chance something goes wrong before we even park. It's intense, but it's rewarding! It's showbiz!
When I Technical Direct, I'm operating the board with all of the buttons. My day usually consists of talking to the director, who actually is the one that says "ready one. Take one." and I'm the one that presses the button to actually make that happen. I have to build all of the wipes/effects for the show too. Usually this is all done on the day of the show for most college sports productions that you see, besides the huge primetime shows.
My vision for this page is for me to be able to talk about the shows that I do, what I learned, and hopefully teach some of you curious techies on the web about what working in TV is like and some of the equipment/software we use!
